After a lengthy back and forth between the House of Lords and House of Commons, the U.K. Parliament 11 June passed the Data (Use and Access) Bill, which would reform the U.K. General Data Protection Regulation and Electronic Communications Regulations. The U.K. government said, "This Bill is about using data to grow the economy and improve people's lives, from health to infrastructure, and we can now get on with the job of doing that." With passage, the bill only needs Royal Assent, which is considered a formality.
Members of the IAPP Women Leading Privacy Advisory Board created a list of 10 tips for protecting children's privacy. Recommendations include reminding parents to think twice before sharing posts of their children on social media, discussing digital privacy online with their children and being cautious about how and when location data is shared.Full story

France's data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés, opened a public consultation on its draft guidelines on the use of tracking pixels in emails. The guidelines were developed following consumer complaints and agency concerns over the broader implications of embedding pixels in emails that are supposed to be private communications. Norway's government said it is moving forward with a bill that would prohibit social media use for children under age 15. The government is also looking at increasing the age of consent for processing data and removing mobile phones from schools.Full story
Norway's data protection authority, Datatilsynet, said it found six websites' use of tracking pixels allegedly violated the law by illegally sharing visitors' personal data with third parties. The websites ranged from public services for children, an online pharmacy, a health diagnostic service and more.
Singapore's Personal Data Protection Commission published new guidelines on anonymization. The guide is the product of a collaborative effort among Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities Forum and aims to outline basic concepts and practical steps around anonymization practices to protect personal data.Full story
