Italy's DPA reaffirms ban on Replika over AI and children's privacy concerns

UK Parliament passes Data (Use and Access) Bill, awaits Royal Assent

After a lengthy back and forth between the House of Lords and House of Commons, the U.K. Parliament 11 June passed the Data (Use and Access) Bill, which would reform the U.K. General Data Protection Regulation and Electronic Communications Regulations. The U.K. government said, "This Bill is about using data to grow the economy and improve people's lives, from health to infrastructure, and we can now get on with the job of doing that." With passage, the bill only needs Royal Assent, which is considered a formality.

CNIL opens public consultation on embedding tracking pixels in emails

France's data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés, opened a public consultation on its draft guidelines on the use of tracking pixels in emails. The guidelines were developed following consumer complaints and agency concerns over the broader implications of embedding pixels in emails that are supposed to be private communications. The deadline to submit comments is 24 July.Full story
