IAB, IAB Tech Lab create Multi-State Privacy Agreement

IAB and IAB Tech Lab created IAB Privacy’s Multi-State Privacy Agreement, providing updated privacy protocols and agreements to help ensure state privacy law compliance. The MSPA, which works alongside IAB Tech Lab’s U.S. State Signals initiative, helps marketers, agencies, publishers and advertising technology companies, to comply with privacy laws in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and Virginia.

Roundup: Australia, Italy, US and more

In this week’s global legislative roundup, the Australian Information Commissioner and Communications and Media Authority investigate telecom company Optus for its recent data breach. Italy’s data protection authority launched an investigation into a voice-replication application. Online retailer agrees to pay $1.9M in penalties following data breach

Zoetop, owner of online fashion retailers SHEIN and ROMWE, will pay $1.9 million in penalties to the state of New York following a 2018 data breach that impacted more than 800,000 New Yorkers, state Attorney General Letitia James announced. Under the agreement, Zoetop will also strengthen cybersecurity measures, including hashing customer passwords and implementing network monitoring and incident response policies with timely investigations, consumer notice and password resets.

New research helps executives, CISOs build trust through cybersecurity and privacy

Building trust in global commerce in the digital economy is only as good as the privacy and cybersecurity a company offers, according to KPMG. The company released its latest research, “Cyber trust insights 2022,” which surveyed 1,881 executives from companies around the world to better ascertain the extent to which C-suite executives understand how much their company relies on cybersecurity and the need to uphold customers’ privacy.
