U.S. Sens. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and Mike Lee, R-Utah, introduced the bipartisan Security and Freedom Enhancement Act, which would reauthorize Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act with new requirements for intelligence agencies, prior to the law sunsetting 19 April. The Council of Europe Committee on Artificial Intelligence completed the Artificial Intelligence, Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law Framework Convention. "While this treaty has been elaborated by the Council of Europe with like-minded international partners, it will be a global instrument, open to the world," Council Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić said.
