The U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Office of Technology and the Division of Advertising Practices detailed how certain applications of AI systems have increased the risks of consumer harms. FTC staff noted consumers are now often consciously and unconsciously interacting with AI, including customer service chatbots, educations tools and algorithmic recommendation systems on their social media feeds.
In an op-ed in the Hindustan Times, India's Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw wrote draft rules to operationalize the Digital Personal Data Protection Act are intended to "empower citizens with rights such as informed consent, data erasure, and the ability to appoint digital nominees." Vaishnaw said the rules are "designed with simplicity and clarity, ensuring that every Indian, regardless of their technical know-how, can understand and exercise their rights."
Qatar Central Bank indicated individuals should not share personally identifiable information on social platforms, ZAWYA reports.
