IT service company glitch allows hackers to find users' locations

A glitch within IT service company Cloudflare's system allegedly allows hackers to identify the approximate location of social media users, 404 Media reports. The independent security researcher who reported the issue said "Cloudflare partitions cache through data centers, and because of this bad actors can very easily correlate caches and triangulate user locations."Full story

British Prince Harry settles with publisher over surveillance claims

British Prince Harry settled his lawsuit against News Group Newspapers for alleged illegal collection and sharing of phone information, BBC News reports. NGN apologized for unlawful activity and surveillance measures used to collect Prince Harry's information. Barrister David Sherborne said the settlement means the publisher is "finally held to account for its illegal actions and its blatant disregard for the law."Full story

Lina Khan informed U.S. Federal Trade Commission staff she will resign from the agency "in the coming weeks," according to a memo reviewed by Reuters. EPIC, ICCL file first Protecting Americans' Data from Foreign Adversaries Act complaint

The Irish Council for Civil Liberties and the Electronic Privacy Information Center filed the first-ever complaint with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission under the Protecting Americans' Data from Foreign Adversaries Act against Google. The ICCL and EPIC alleged Google's real-time bidding online advertising system sends "enormous quantities" of sensitive personal data to China.
