Apple announced plans to remove its encryption tool for U.K. users after the government demanded access to user data, BBC News reports. Apple's Advanced Data Protection allows users to load data into iCloud using end-to-end encryption. A bill looking to place requirements on AI systems has been reintroduced to the Connecticut General Assembly following shortcomings and governor objections to a similar bill in 2024. Also introduced is an amendment to the state's comprehensive consumer data privacy law aimed at improving provisions for data minimization, children's data and biometric data.

The California Privacy Protection Agency fined data broker Jerico Pictures USD46,000 for not meeting data broker registration requirements under the Delete Act. CPPA Deputy Director of Enforcement Michael Macko said the agency will continue its efforts to enforce the Delete Act and "use all available tools, including litigation, to make sure that data brokers aren't operating in the dark."Full story
