According to "The King's Speech" to U.K. Parliament, ministers will reintroduce the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill (No. 2). Some provisions would allow businesses to protect personal data in more "proportionate and practical ways" compared to EU General Data Protection Regulation requirements.
Brazil's data protection authority, the Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados, is seeking public comment on a proposed regulation defining the role of a data protection officer. The regulation will reflect requirements under Article 41 of the General Personal Data Protection Law. The comment period is open until 7 Dec. European Parliament announced a provisional agreement with the Council of the European Union on the creation of an EU Digital Identity Wallet that provides online identification verification. A complaint filed by privacy advocate Alexander Hanff, CIPP/E, CIPT, FIP, claims YouTube's ad blocker detection system violates the EU ePrivacy Directive. Hanff alleged YouTube did not receive permission from users before implementing the detection system. YouTube Senior Communications Manager Christopher Lawton said users agreed to the platform's terms of service and the "use of ad blockers" violates that agreement.Full story

France's data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés, issued 10 sanctions over recent months to private and public entities totaling 97,000 euros. The nature of the complaints included processing the geolocation data of employees driving company vehicles while on their breaks and the use of video surveillance of employees at their workstations.
Norway's data protection authority, Datatilsynet, said it is taking part in a review at the "European level" of Meta's ad-free subscription model for EU users to address alleged targeted advertising infringements under the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
