FCC chairwoman aims to stop abuse victims' car tracking

U.S. Federal Communications Commission Chair Jessica Rosenworcel is aiming to stop domestic abuse victims from being tracked by their car's digital systems, Axios reports. Rosenworcel said the FCC must ensure automakers "understand the full impact of the connectivity tools in new vehicles and how these applications can be used to stalk, harass, and intimidate."Full story

DOJ kicks off rulemaking on US sensitive data transfers

The U.S. Department of Justice will soon draft regulations under President Joe Biden's executive order on sensitive data sharing with foreign adversaries released 28 Feb. The DOJ's National Security Division will issue an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to receive stakeholder feedback on the categories of transactions involving bulk sensitive personal data and government data outlined in the order.

BEUC members file complaints over Meta's 'pay or OK' model

Eight members of the European Consumer Organisation filed complaints with their national data protection authorities objecting to Meta's so called "pay or OK" model, Euractiv reports. The complaints will be consolidated by each data protection authority and referred to Ireland's Data Protection Commission. The complaints generally argue the "pay or OK" model does not adhere to the EU General Data Protection Regulation's principles on fair processing, data minimization and purpose limitation.
