What is a Data Broker? Well, there isn’t just one definition, but generally it is the practice of buying, aggregating, selling, licensing, and otherwise sharing data about individuals. Data brokers collect information about consumers from many sources including websites, cookies, other businesses, public records, social media, loyalty cards, and mobile apps. The data broker then analyzes and packages the data for sale or licenses to other businesses. This industry is mostly unregulated in the US except for a few states that have enacted laws.
