Who Enforces the Louisiana Data Privacy Act?

The Louisiana Attorney General enforces the LDPA. Violations are treated as unfair and deceptive trade practices, but the statute excludes specified private rights of action otherwise available under Louisiana’s consumer-protection framework. The LDPA itself does not create a private right of action.
The law provides a temporary 30-day notice-and-cure process from January 1 through July 31, 2027, before an investigation. Qualifying correction requires written confirmation, supporting documentation, and necessary internal policy changes. That process does not postpone the January 1 compliance deadline.
