What is the Texas Data Broker Act?

The Texas Data Broker Act is a state law that regulates businesses that collect, sell, or license personal data about individuals with whom they do not have a direct relationship. The law focuses on transparency, registration, consumer rights, and data security.
It is enforced by the Texas Attorney General and is separate from broader consumer privacy laws such as the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (“TDPSA”).
