What is the California Delete Act (SB 362)?

The California Delete Act is a law that strengthens consumer deletion rights by requiring data brokers to:

  • Register annually with the state.

  • Participate in a centralized deletion system.

  • Delete consumer data across their systems when requested.

  • Prevent deleted data from being re-collected.

The law is enforced by the California Privacy Protection Agency (“CPPA”).
