What Privacy Rights Do Alabama Consumers Have Under the APDPA?

Subject to statutory conditions and exceptions, consumers may:
  • Confirm whether their personal data is being processed and access it.
  • Correct inaccuracies.
  • Request deletion.
  • Obtain a portable copy of certain data they previously provided.
  • Opt-out of targeted advertising, personal-data sales, and profiling used for solely automated significant decisions concerning them.
Controllers generally must respond within 45 days. One additional 45-day extension is permitted when reasonably necessary because of the complexity or number of requests, with notice during the initial period. Information generally must be provided free of charge once per consumer during a 12-month period.
