The Alabama Personal Data Protection Act (“APDPA”) takes effect May 1, 2027. Governor Kay Ivey signed House Bill 351 into law on April 17, 2026.
The law establishes privacy rights for Alabama consumers and obligations for covered organizations involving privacy notices, consumer requests, targeted advertising, personal-data sales, sensitive data, processor contracts, and security. Businesses should determine whether they are covered before the effective date.
